I attended the ALA Annual Conference on Saturday only, with an Exhibits Supreme badge. The highlight of the morning was Ken Burns in the "Auditorium Speaker" series. He spoke for about half an hour then showed an hour's worth of clips from his upcoming massive documentary on WWII. He did threaten to lock us in the room to see the whole 14 1/2 hour production -- might have been worth it! Look for this on PBS in September. It should be every bit as wonderful as his Civil War (i.e. not easy to watch, but wonderful nonetheless).
It never ceases to amaze me how a person can just run into pals among the thousands at ALA while wandering through the Convention Center in general or exhibit hall in particular. Lots of catching up, lots of hugs! Oh, yeah, lots of info updates, too.
